| Founded in 1979, Maryland Hall is a multi-disciplinary arts center whose mission is to provide exceptional opportunities for lifelong community participation in arts education, the visual arts and performing arts.
As our region’s premier comprehensive arts center, Maryland Hall provides a broad range of arts-related programming for people of all ages, backgrounds and socio-economic levels. Each day we carry out our vision to be the area’s leading center for lifelong participation in the arts.
Each year at Maryland Hall:
-
More than 5,000 individuals take part in our arts education
classes;
-
Our performing arts program brings a diverse array of performers—from
rock, folk and pop stars to musical theatre productions and
dance troupes—to our stage;
-
Our four resident companies—Annapolis Chorale, Annapolis
Opera, Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Ballet Theatre of
Maryland—bring high-quality performances and educational
opportunities to our community;
-
Our visual arts program attracts noteworthy local and regional
artists who want to exhibit their work in our galleries and
in our outdoor sculpture program;
-
The Peabody Preparatory of Baltimore provides high-quality
music instruction to our community;
-
Our Artist-in-Residence program enables local
artists to create and provide community programs under the auspices
of Maryland Hall.
Maryland Hall also offers an place for meditation to the community. Completed in 2002 with generous funding from the TKF Foundation, Maryland Hall's labyrinth is a replica of the one at the Cathedral of the Chartres in Paris, France. It is open to the public for public use year-round and is approximately one-half mile in length and has a diameter of just over 42 feet. Click here for more information.
Maryland Hall is a vital community arts center that provides opportunities
for more than 100,000 residents in our community to explore and
enjoy the arts.
